It is a strong and durable fibre made from flax. Its cultivation does not require much water or pesticides. Linen is thermoregulating, breathable and anti-bacterial. It is a local and eco-responsible fibre, pleasant to wear all year round.

CARE

Linen is generally a solid and durable fabric. It can be washed in warm or hot water, but the usual "wash in cold water for optimal life" is still recommended. Line/hang dry to keep a linen garment in the best condition. If you put your linen garment in the dryer, use medium heat. Linen requires the highest iron setting with steam.

Wool is a biodegradable and recyclable animal fibre. It is anti-bacterial, thermo-regulating and breathable; it does not retain odours and is wrinkle-resistant.

Wool is an eco-responsible and durable material, robust and solid; you will keep your wool pieces for a long time. In addition, wool is a circular fabric and it allows zero-waste processing from upstream to downstream, the production of durable goods and a low-impact circular economy, both for pre-consumer and, most importantly, for post-consumer goods.

Woolen garments, accessories and pre-consumer scraps are also easily recyclable through a mechanical, low-impact process. Colours are created without added dyes . By making the most of the colours that input materials had in their previous lives.

Wool can substantially impact the environment in terms of land use, water consumption and CO2 emissions (sheep digestion produces methane as a by-product). Still, its overall effect is amortised over its zero-waste production, long life and numerous life cycles.

CARE

Its properties means you shouldn’t have to wash your woollies as often! If you do need to wash, choose a gentle cycle - handwash or wool cycle. To avoid shrinking, only wash wool in cold temperatures. Use a detergent designed for woollens. Avoid tumble driers as they tend to shrink wool, rather air, flat dry. Avoid traditional dry cleaning, which is a highly chemical-intensive process that can have a negative impact on the environment, textile fibres and your skin. If dry cleaning is required, look for an eco-friendly service. Ironing can crush or flatten the natural pile of the yarns. Instead, steam clean your coat to remove wrinkles, and odours, and help kill mites and bacteria. Brush between wears to remove lint, fuzz, and hair. It will also help to release natural oils that rejuvenate yarns.

Cotton is a very soft, strong and breathable fabric made from cotton fibres, a natural plant-based material. AMILLI will only use cotton fabrics that meet our standards.

Irresponsible and inorganic cotton production accounts for 25% of the pesticides used worldwide yearly. It poisons our soils and the people who work in them. Cotton is a very, thirsty fibre. It requires lots of water.

However, Cotton is strong and durable. And the backbone of a sustainable wardrobe is helping your clothes last longer.

CARE

Cotton is a very soft and breathable fabric, but it is prone to shrinkage, colour bleeding, and losing shape over time. The usual recommendation for washing a cotton garment is to wash it in cold water on a gentle cycle to prevent shrinking and fading. Avoid fabric softeners, as they can dull the finish. Clothesline or hanger drying is recommended. If you put your cotton garment in the tumbler dryer, use medium heat. If ironing cotton, and the iron does not have a designated cotton setting, use steam and high heat

Corduroy: we recommend washing corduroy inside out. You should avoid ironing as not to crush the ribbed nap. Instead, you can choose to steam your garment.

Denim: Always wash denim inside out. Otherwise, it will bleed out. You should wash your Jeans as little as possible and never tumble-dry, as they can shrink. Instead, dryline to preserve the fit and helps avoid possible shrinkage or Fabric warping. In addition, powder detergent can cause stains.

Silk is biodegradable and has a low environmental impact. It is a Luxurious, delicate, but strong material, thermo-regulating, fluid, and soft.

CARE

Silk needs special care to stay fluid and soft. Only pre-washed silk is washable. Dry cleaning is generally preferred since laundering detergent and dyes in other clothes may adversely affect silk fabric. For washable silk, wash it with the silk program. Always wash colours separately and use a laundry bag. You should never use Chlorine bleach on silk. If you have to wash by hand, do not rub on stains and do not twist the garment to remove excess water. Hang the garment on a hanger to dry. We recommend ironing with high heat and steam but always have a cotton towel between the silk and the iron. If you iron directly on the silk, use low heat and iron on the back. Silk should be sealed against light, air and insects for long-time storage.

Cupro is made from plant fibres or dissolved cotton, and it’s often used as an alternative to silk. they breathe like cotton, drape beautifully, and look and feel like silk on your skin.

CARE

Light colours can be washed on a regular, warm cycle; For dark colours, it’s better to stick to cold water. Do not bleach. Line/hang drying for optimal fabric care; avoid drying in the tumble dryer. Cupro can be dry cleaned.

Blends are used in the textile industry to maximise the beauty or quality of a fabric by blending it with other natural materials with other unique properties.

Sometimes additional features are added to the material through a blend of natural and synthetic fibres. For example, adding acrylic to wool makes a sturdier, easier-to-maintain material and prevents pilling. Likewise, mixing viscose with linen brings suppleness to the textile and reduces creasing.

We use mostly natural, low-impact materials in our designs, but sometimes we use blended materials if they are from Deadstock, and we only use those that follow our high standards.

CARE

Generally, when washing fabric blends, refer to the most delicate fabric in the combination. For instance, treat a wool and cashmere blend garment as if it were cashmere only. Although it may be delicate, if a fibre is present in a minimal quantity (≤5%), it will generally not affect the garment’s performance. You can wash the item as recommended for a fibre included in a more significant percentage.
